"When I showed the kiddos their uniforms they were so happy, our 6 year old said 'and they don’t have holes!'. And they wanted to wear them then and now. So thank you all for your big hearts and being the light of God in this sometimes dark world! Today you have showed His love to 4 foster kiddos who really needed it." S.K., a Forney foster mom
The FISD Resource Fair was a great success, getting supplies and uniforms into the hands of those who need them. We estimate that well over 1,000 students received assistance!
Several other churches and organizations took advantage that day and had backpacks and uniforms and other services available at their sites, too. We hope to coordinate all of these activities better for next year, to give all those needing assistance the opportunity to be served more readily.
The First Presbyterian Church of Forney located at 12433 FM 1641 in Forney continues to have uniforms available. Please contact them directly.
Forney ISD had several thousand books available for distribution to children at the Resource Fair, of which most remained at the end of the event. Hunger Relief Ministries, an FCM partner, flew these books to The Lutheran Literacy Project in Alpine, Texas, where they will be distributed to underprivileged children and families in the rural deserts of southwest Texas (below).
This is a good example of how the partnerships created by FCM better facilitate helping those in need.
